The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 builds on the success of the Galaxy Z Flip7, continuing Samsung's vision of a stylish foldable that offers flagship performance in a compact clamshell design.
Rather than introducing sweeping hardware changes, this year's model focuses on refining the everyday experience with a lighter build, more capable cover display and upgraded internals.
Compared with the Flip7, Samsung has introduced a new Exynos 2600 processor, a redesigned FlexWindow experience, improved hinge technology and a slimmer, lighter body.
While the Fold8 range is aimed at productivity, the Flip8 remains the fun, fashionable option that's ideal for users who want flagship features without carrying a large phone.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8: Design
Samsung hasn't strayed far from the winning formula, but the changes it has made are immediately noticeable.
At 180g and just 6.1mm thick when unfolded, the Galaxy Z Flip8 is both the lightest and thinnest Flip phone Samsung has produced, making it even more pocket-friendly than the Flip7.
The redesigned Flex Titanium hinge makes opening and closing the phone feel smoother while also reducing the visibility of the display crease. Combined with Armour Aluminium, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and IP48 water and dust resistance, the Flip8 feels reassuringly premium despite its playful design.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8: Display
The Flip8 retains its 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display with a smooth adaptive 120Hz refresh rate, delivering vibrant colours, deep blacks and excellent responsiveness. Peak brightness reaches 2600 nits, making it easier to use outdoors than previous Flip models.
The biggest improvement, however, is the 4.1-inch FlexWindow. While it shares the same size as the Flip7, Samsung has made it considerably more useful by allowing users to access the full app drawer, reply to messages, check notifications and use Galaxy AI features directly from the cover screen without relying on workarounds.
Compared with the Flip7, the hardware changes are modest, but the software enhancements make the external display feel much more like a fully functional second screen rather than simply a widget panel.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8: Camera
The Galaxy Z Flip8 features the same dependable dual-camera setup as its predecessor:

While the hardware remains unchanged, Samsung has improved image quality through updated Galaxy AI processing, delivering better HDR performance, more natural skin tones and improved low-light photography.
New features such as Photo Assist, smarter portrait effects and enhanced FlexCam shooting modes also make the Flip8 more enjoyable to use for content creation.
Compared with the Fold8 Ultra or Galaxy S Ultra series, the Flip8 understandably lacks dedicated zoom cameras, but for everyday photography and social media content, it continues to perform impressively.

One of the biggest upgrades comes under the hood. The Flip8 is powered by Samsung's Exynos 2600 processor, replacing the Exynos 2500 found in the Flip7, alongside 12GB of RAM and Android 17 with One UI 9.
The new chipset improves CPU, GPU and AI performance, making everyday tasks feel even smoother while also helping with gaming, multitasking and Samsung's expanding Galaxy AI features. Whether you're using Live Translate, editing photos with AI or jumping between apps, the Flip8 feels fast and responsive.
While it doesn't quite match the raw multitasking capabilities of the Fold8 range, the Flip8 delivers flagship-level performance in a much smaller, more pocketable package.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8: Battery & Charging
Samsung retains the 4,300mAh battery from the Flip7, but improvements to the processor and battery technology help squeeze more life from every charge. Samsung rates the phone for up to 31 hours of video playback, making it one of the longest-lasting Flip devices to date.
Charging remains familiar, with support for:

- 15W wireless charging
- Reverse wireless charging
Although charging speeds haven't increased, the efficiency gains mean the Flip8 should comfortably last a full day for most users.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8: Where it doesn't move the needle
The Galaxy Z Flip8 is very much a refinement rather than a reinvention.
The camera hardware and battery capacity are unchanged from the Flip7, so existing owners shouldn't expect dramatic improvements in image quality or battery life. Most of the photographic gains come from Samsung's updated software processing rather than new sensors.
Similarly, while the FlexWindow is significantly more useful thanks to software upgrades, the displays themselves are largely the same size and specification as before. If you're already using a Galaxy Z Flip7, many of the day-to-day improvements will feel evolutionary rather than revolutionary.

Compared with the Galaxy Z Flip7, the slimmer design, lighter weight, improved hinge and smarter FlexWindow make the Flip8 feel more polished and practical, even if the cameras and battery remain largely unchanged.
